Get to know Dale:

I am seeking the honor of serving as your District 1 State Representative. I am a life-long resident of Cherokee County. I was born in Columbus, KS and graduated from Riverton High School. After high school, I received my bachelor's degree from Kansas State University.

My wife and I have been married for 28 years and have three wonderful children. We live on our family farm that was established in 1912, where we raise cattle. Besides living and working on the farm, I have worked 10 years in the construction industry building and repairing homes, and 7 years installing heating and air units. I have spent the last 10 years as the Cherokee County Agricultural Agent for Kansas State University. As a KSU employee, I worked with agricultural producers, local businesses, home owners, and schools. I continue that effort as the current Cherokee County Economic Development Director.

My Values

Pro-Life

First and foremost, I am pro-life. I believe that all life is precious no matter the person’s background or origin. This comes from my belief in God, as God values life. God loved us so much that He sent His Son as payment for our sins. He would rather give up His son, than let us perish. Children were highly valued to Christ as He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Most precious is the life that cannot defend itself. When a corn seed is planted in the ground and it comes in contact with soil and water, the seed begins to grow. Cell division and cell replication begin. That seed is now alive. It may not look like a corn plant yet, but it is alive. If a person would take the seed out of the ground and deprive it of nutrients and water, it would die. The same with a person. At conception, the zygote begins to grow. Cell division and cell replication begin the process of forming a complete person. If someone would stop that process at any point, I believe that would be murder.

If we do not value life, the basis of our existence, I have to ask, what do we value? Everyone is important and has a purpose. That purpose, that life, great or small, is significant and we should treat it as such.

The Foundation of Opportunity

America was founded on the principle of opportunity. We are fortunate to live in a country where many can only dream of the freedoms and possibilities we enjoy. However, equality should not be mistaken for equal outcomes; rather, it should mean equal opportunity for all. True equality provides everyone with the chance to succeed based on their own efforts and talents, not guaranteed identical results, which is a hallmark of socialism.

I believe our government has grown too large, which in some cases has hindered opportunities for individuals to thrive. As Ronald Reagan famously said, “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.” By reducing the size and scope of government, we can create more opportunities for people to excel.

The Importance of Personal Accountability

Personal accountability is crucial for the success of businesses, families, sports teams, and especially our nation. Instead of offering handouts, we should focus on giving others a hand-up, empowering them to achieve their goals.

Redefining Success

Currently, the government often measures success by how many people rely on its programs. However, I believe success should be defined by how many citizens no longer need government assistance. By fostering an environment rich with opportunities, we help individuals become self-sufficient and achieve success without relying on government aid. This version of success restores dignity, pride, and self-worth to individuals, empowering them to take control of their own lives.

Together, we can build a country where opportunity abounds, and every person has the chance to succeed on their own merits.
